Huawei Helped China Telecom Launch the First 5G FWA Commercail Pilot Project
Recently, China Telecom Co., Ltd. Beijing branch and Huawei launched China Telecom's first 5G FWA(Fixed Wireless Access) commercial pilot project.
The service aims to provide a high-speed Internet experience comparable to fiber and quickly solve broadband access problems in areas where fiber has not yet reached. The pilot verification results show that the downlink rate of 5G FWA on the client side can be comparable to 300M wireline broadband, and the uplink rate can also reach 100M, easily meeting the diversified needs of home users, such as high-definition TV programs, large-scale online games, online education and video surveillance.
5G FWA(Fixed Wireless Access) is an Internet service that utilizes 5G wireless technology to provide users with a home Internet connection instead of via copper or fiber.
Currently, 155 operators around the world have invested in 5G FWA services, using 5G CPE(Customer Premises Equipment, a new type of wireless router) to wirelessly connect 5G base stations and quickly solve the "last mile" coverage problem.
Huawei announced three significant values of 5G FWA:
- Diversified scenario applicability: Applicable to areas without optical fiber coverage such as rural areas, rental apartments, urban villages, street shops, construction sites or video surveillance systems.
- Plug and play convenience: CPE is a plug and play device that is easy to install and fast to open.
- Manageability of business issuance: The WTTx Suite number allocation tool ensures accurate assessment of FWA business issuance and enables proactive detection of poor quality users, thereby improving operational and maintenance efficiency.
