NEC participates in Optical Fiber Communication Conference 2024 and demonstrates a new optical trans

NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today that it will showcase its new optical transceiver, the "400G QSFP-DD Transceiver" , at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference 2024 (OFC 2024) from March 26 – 28 at the San Diego Convention Center, booth #3709. NEC will also participate in the demonstration of multi-vendor interoperability at the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) booth (#1323) as one of the vendors of 400ZR/OpenZR+optics.

  The NEC 400G QSFP-DD Transceiver

The optics are based on the QSFP-DD form factor standard and feature a small pluggable design, enabling easy and convenient plug-in and plug-out from equipment. This flexibility allows for the addition of optical transceivers as demand increases following installation, thereby contributing to an open network infrastructure. Since NEC’s optical transceiver complies with industry standards for 400ZR/OpenZR+, it ensures interoperability with multiple QSFP-DD vendors and router/switch/host devices.

Furthermore, power consumption per bit in the 400G application mode has been reduced by 80% when compared to conventional technology, contributing to significant energy savings. It is also possible to customize the operating mode and memory map according to customers’ application needs.

OIF Interoperability Demo at OFC 2024 Features Nearly 50 Member Companies Addressing Unprecedented Demand for Next-Generation Network Solutions

OIF’s interoperability demonstration at OFC 2024 (booth #1323) will feature 47 member companies showcasing breakthrough solutions in speed, power and density in four key areas: 800ZR , 400ZR and OpenZR+ optics, Energy Efficient Interfaces (EEI), Common Electrical I/O (CEI) channels and Common Management Interface Specification (CMIS) implementations.
